About Clarkia similis F.H.Lewis & W.R.Ernst
Clarkia similis is a species of flowering plant in the evening primrose family, with the common name Ramona clarkia. This species is endemic to California, growing in the coastal hills and mountains of the southwestern portion of the state. It is an erect-growing annual herb that reaches a maximum height close to one meter. Its inflorescence holds both open flowers and closed, hanging flower buds. The sepals stay fused as petals bloom out from one side of the bud. The petals are under one centimeter long, and shaped oval to diamond. They are pale pink with white coloring near their bases, and are sometimes marked with purple speckles.
