Endemic Range

It is endemic to California, and has only been recorded in seven counties in the central region of the state.

It grows short stems that are less than 20 centimeters (8 inches) tall, and bears sparse, narrow leaves.

Flower Petal Appearance

Its distinctive flowers have four pink to lavender petals, each around 2 centimeters long and wide. Each petal has three irregular lobes, with the middle lobe being long and spoon-shaped.

Habitat

This species typically grows in habitats of shale or serpentine scree.
