Common Name and Taxonomy

Cirrhilabrus punctatus, commonly known as the dotted wrasse, is a species of wrasse native to the western Pacific Ocean.

Geographic Range

Its range extends from Papua New Guinea and Australia to Tonga and Fiji.

Habitat and Depth Range

This species lives on coral reefs, found at depths between 2 and 35 meters (6.6 to 114.8 feet), though it most commonly occurs between 5 and 28 meters (16 to 92 feet).

Size and Human Use

It reaches a maximum total length of 13 centimeters (5.1 inches), and is sold in the aquarium trade.
