About Cassia roxburghii DC.
Cassia roxburghii DC., commonly called red cassia, is a medium-sized tree that reaches a height of 15–20 m (49–66 ft), and has spreading, drooping branches. Its leaves are pinnate, 15–60 cm (5.9–23.6 in) long, with three to eight pairs of leaflets; each individual leaflet is 7–21 cm (2.8–8.3 in) long and 4–9 cm (1.6–3.5 in) broad. Clusters of pink, rose, or orange-red flowers form on the tree. Flowers are borne in pendulous racemes that are 20–40 cm (7.9–15.7 in) long; each flower is 4–7 cm (1.6–2.8 in) in diameter, with petals that range in color from red to pinkish. The fruit produced by this species is a legume.
