Cardamine nuttallii Greene is a perennial herb that grows from a small, white rhizome. It produces a thin, unbranching stem that reaches less than 20 centimeters in height. Its leaves have smooth or lobed edges, and are sometimes divided into a few smaller leaflets. The inflorescence generally bears more than one flower; flowers are pale purple, pink, or occasionally white, with each petal measuring over a centimeter long. The fruit is a silique that can grow up to 4 centimeters long.
