About Capsella grandiflora (Fauché & Chaub.) Boiss.
Capsella grandiflora (Fauché & Chaub.) Boiss. is a species of flowering plant belonging to the Brassicaceae family. Its common name is grand shepherd's-purse, and it is a close relative of Arabidopsis thaliana. Alongside Capsella orientalis, it is predicted to be one of the surviving progenitors of Capsella bursa-pastoris. Its defining characteristic, when compared to other species in the Capsella genus, is its wide flower petals. Together with Capsella rubella, this species is used as a model plant for studying the evolutionary transition from self-incompatibility to self-compatibility in plant reproduction.
