Common Name and Endemic Range

Calumma amber, commonly known as the Amber Mountain chameleon, is a species of chameleon endemic to Antsiranana Province, Madagascar.

Detailed Distribution

It is only found in the northernmost part of Madagascar's northern Diana Region, on and around Montagne d'Amber National Park.

Taxonomic History

This species was first observed in 1989 and first formally described in 2006 by Raxworthy and Nussbaum.

Original Classification

Originally, C. amber was classified as a population of the species C. brevicorne.
