About Buddleja mendozensis Gillies ex Benth.
Buddleja mendozensis Gillies ex Benth. is a dioecious shrub that grows 0.2 to 2 meters tall, and has greyish bark. Its young branches are subterete and tomentose. The leaves are very variable in shape, ranging 0.5 – 8 cm long by 0.2 – 2 cm wide. Leaves have a texture from membranaceous to subcoriaceous; they range from glabrescent to tomentose on the upper surface, and are densely tomentose on the lower surface. The yellow to orange inflorescence is made up of 2 to 5 pairs of small globose heads growing in the axils of the terminal leaves. The corollas of this species are 3.5 to 4.5 mm long. The recorded ploidy for Buddleja mendozensis is 2n = 38. There are no known examples of this species currently in cultivation.
