Bothragonus swanii, commonly known as the rockhead, deep-pitted poacher, or deep-pitted sea-poacher, is a fish species belonging to the family Agonidae. This species was first described by Franz Steindachner in 1876, and it was originally classified under the genus Hypsagonus.

Distribution Range

It occurs in the eastern Pacific Ocean, ranging from Alaska south to Carmel Bay, California.

Habitat and Depth Range

It can be found down to depths of 18 meters, and also lives in the intertidal zone.

Maximum Size

Mature males of this species reach a maximum total length of 8.9 centimeters.
