About Boerhavia gracillima Heimerl

Boerhavia gracillima, commonly called the slimstalk spiderling, is a plant species native to Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and Mexico. It grows best in dry, rocky habitats, including grasslands, desert scrub, roadsides, and pinyon-juniper woodlands. This species is a perennial herb, and its base is often woody. Its stems range from trailing to erect, and produce many branches. Most of its leaves grow on the lower half of the plant, and leaves become smaller toward the top. The flowers are red, and grow in clusters either in the axils of the leaves or at the tips of stems. Each individual flower is no more than 4.5 mm (0.2 inches) long.
