Astragalus tener A.Gray is an annual herb that grows upright stems reaching up to 30 cm (12 inches) tall. Its leaves grow up to 9 cm (3.5 inches) long, and are composed of multiple leaflets ranging from lance-shaped to oval in shape. The inflorescence forms a dense cluster of pinkish-purple flowers marked with smudges of white. The fruit it produces is a narrow legume pod up to 5 cm (2.0 inches) long, which typically holds two smooth seeds.
