About Astragalus glycyphyllos L.

Astragalus glycyphyllos, commonly known as liquorice milkvetch, wild liquorice, or wild licorice, is a flowering plant in the legume family Fabaceae, native to Europe. It is a perennial herbaceous plant, and is sometimes used to make tea. This species is native to most of Europe, with the exceptions of Ireland, Iceland, and the Greek islands. It is also native to Western Asia including northern Iran and Turkey, the Caucasus region, Siberia, and Middle Asia including north-eastern Kazakhstan. It has been introduced to areas near the Great Lakes, growing in the U.S. states of Connecticut, Indiana, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York, as well as the Canadian province of Ontario.
