This epiphytic orchid has a thick rhizome and a broad conical-ovoid pseudobulb.

Leaf Characteristics

The pseudobulb bears 3 to 6 elliptic to oblong-lanceolate leaves that measure 20 to 120 cm long.

Inflorescence and Flowering

It produces a loose terminal panicle that holds 6 to 100 fragrant flowers, which bloom from winter through early spring.

Distribution Range

This species grows in the ever-cloud forests of the highest peaks of Guerrero and Oaxaca, southern Mexico.

Elevation and Habitat

It occurs at elevations between 2,400 and 3,100 meters, in habitats ranging from cool to cold.
