Its base body color is grey or light brown, and it can change this color to a mottled grey-green, which is presumed to be used for camouflage.

Geographical Distribution
This species is distributed across the Indo-West Pacific Ocean, ranging from the northern coast of Australia, through Indonesia, westward to Madagascar and the east coast of Africa.
Habitat and Depth Range
It typically inhabits sandy bottoms near reefs and lagoons, down to a depth of 30 meters, and is often found hunting in patches of isolated rubble and in seagrass meadows.
