Contusus brevicaudus, commonly called the prickly toadfish – a name also shared with its close relative C. richei – is a species of pufferfish that belongs to the family Tetraodontidae.
Geographic Range
This species is found exclusively in Australia, where its range extends from Western Australia to New South Wales, and includes Tasmania.
Activity Period and Habitat
It is a nocturnal species that lives in both estuaries and marine waters, and it is most commonly found at depths of less than 20 meters, or 66 feet.
Maximum Size
The species reaches a maximum total length of 25 centimeters, or 9.8 inches.
