About Aquilegia glandulosa Fisch.
Aquilegia glandulosa Fisch. is a compact columbine species that reaches a height of only 20โ40 cm (7.9โ15.7 in). Its basal leaves are narrow, blue-green, and biternate. Its flowers have a diameter of 6โ9 cm (2.4โ3.5 in), with blue sepals, white or blue petals, and nectar spurs that measure 6โ12 mm (0.24โ0.47 in) long. This species is very closely related to Aquilegia flabellata (fan columbine), but can be distinguished by its pubescent pistils and strongly hooked, incurved spurs. Aquilegia glandulosa is native to north-central Asia. Its native range covers multiple regions of Russia, including Altai, Buryatia, Irkutsk Oblast, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, Krasnoyarsk Krai, Sakha Republic, Tuva, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, and Zabaykalsky Krai, as well as Kazakhstan, Mongolia, India (Jammu and Kashmir), and China (Xinjiang). It typically grows in alpine meadows, and occurs more rarely in forest zones, along stream banks, and on rocks, at altitudes between 1,900โ2,700 m (6,200โ8,900 ft). This species flowers from June to August.
