Coloration & Markings
Male Anolis pogus have a white throat flap, and both sexes have dark green vertical bars across the back. Females of this species do not have a flank stripe.
Subocular Scale Color
The scales located below the eye can be blue, brick red, or white.
Size
In the type series, the largest males measured 50 mm (2.0 in), while the largest females measured 42 mm (1.7 in).
Current Distribution
Currently, Anolis pogus is restricted to the island of Saint Martin, which is split between the Collectivity of Saint Martin and the Dutch constituent country of Sint Maarten.
Historical Distribution
It was last recorded in Anguilla in 1922, and it may have also once occurred on Saint Barthélemy.
Habitat on Saint Martin
On Saint Martin, this species is abundant in vegetated uplands, though it can be found across the entire island.
