Genus Status and Endemism
This species is the only member of the monotypic genus Anepischetosia, and it is endemic to Australia.

Reproduction Discrepancies
There is conflicting information about the mode of reproduction of Anepischetosia maccoyi. It has been suggested to be ovoviviparous, while The Reptile Database classifies the species as oviparous.
Original Reproduction Description
However, in Lucas and Frost's original 1894 description of the species, they recorded that young develop within the parent's body, with eight or nine young being born in January or February.
