About Aneides niger Myers & Maslin, 1948
Adult Coloration
Description. Unlike all other members of the Aneides flavipunctatus complex, adult Aneides niger have an almost uniformly black coloration.
Juvenile Markings
Like other members of the complex, juveniles have numerous tiny white spots, which are progressively lost as the individual matures.
Species Range
Distribution. This species is the southernmost member of the A. flavipunctatus complex, and it is geographically separated from all other members of the complex.
County Distribution
It is restricted to the San Francisco Peninsula of California, where it occurs in San Mateo, Santa Cruz, and western Santa Clara counties.
