Taxonomy and Naming

Anampses twistii, commonly known as the yellow-breasted wrasse, is a species of wrasse first described by Bleeker in 1856.

Geographic Range

This species is native to tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific region, ranging from the Red Sea to the Tuamoto Islands.

Habitat and Depth Range

It inhabits lagoons and reefs, occurring at depths between 5 meters (16 feet) and 30 meters (98 feet).

Size

Adults of the species can grow to a total length of 18 centimeters (7.1 inches).

Human Relevance

It holds minor importance for local commercial fisheries, and it is also sold in the aquarium trade.
