About Amaranthus powellii S.Watson

Amaranthus powellii S.Watson is an erect annual herb that reaches a maximum height close to two meters. Its leaves can grow up to 9 centimeters long: leaves on the upper section of the plant are lance-shaped, while leaves lower on the stem are diamond-shaped or roughly oval. The plant's inflorescence holds multiple long, narrow clusters of both male and female flowers, which are interspersed with spiny green bracts. It produces a smooth dehiscent capsule fruit around 3 millimeters long, which holds shiny reddish black seeds.
