Alopecurus carolinianus Walter is an annual bunchgrass that grows in tufts of erect stems, reaching up to around half a meter in height. Its leaves grow to a maximum length of 8 to 15 centimeters. The inflorescence is dense and cylindrical, measuring only a few centimeters long. When blooming, it produces yellow to bright orange anthers. This grass is native to most of North America, including most of the United States and western Canada. Despite this, it may be an introduced species in many areas within this range. It is most commonly found growing in moist areas.
