About Ajuga orientalis L.

Ajuga orientalis L. is a plant that reaches a mature height and width of 0.45 meters (1 foot 6 inches) after 2 to 5 years of growth. It produces flower stems 6 to 30 centimeters (2.4 to 11.8 inches) long during spring and summer. Each stem holds 4 to 12 tube-shaped flowers that measure 10 to 12 millimeters (0.39 to 0.47 inches) long, with a mixed cream and violet coloration. The flower calyx is 6 to 9 millimeters (0.24 to 0.35 inches) long; the upper lip of the flower is cream-colored, while the lower lip is violet. The stamens are enclosed within the flower. Its leaves are grey-green, oblong-elliptic, and crenate-dentate, typically growing 4 to 8 centimeters (1.6 to 3.1 inches) long. Along with most other Ajuga species, Ajuga orientalis is claimed to have medicinal properties, and it is used in traditional Turkish medicine.
