Acmispon americanus (Nutt.) Rydb. is an upright, hairy annual plant that grows up to 25 centimeters tall. Its flowers reach up to 6 millimeters in size, and range in color from pale pink to cream. The nominal subspecies Acmispon americanus subsp. americanus is often recognized in classification as encompassing several varieties, one of which is Acmispon americanus var. americanus.
