About Zygopetalum maculatum (Kunth) Garay

Zygopetalum maculatum produces an inflorescence that is 40 centimeters (16 inches) long, which bears eight to twelve fragrant flowers. Each flower measures 4 to 8 centimeters (1.6 to 3.1 inches) wide. The flowers are green with red-brown markings, and have a white lip marked with violet. Flowers that have been successfully pollinated close slightly to signal that pollination has occurred. Pollinated flowers stay healthy and keep their color for up to three months, while unpollinated flowers wilt after just one month.
