About Zornia gibbosa Span.

Zornia gibbosa Span. is a small herb. It produces 2-foliolate leaves with lance-shaped leaflets that can grow up to 2.5 cm long, and these leaflets are marked with black glands. Its yellow flowers are enclosed in leafy bracts, and grow in spikes that each hold four flowers. The pods of Zornia gibbosa have 3–6 joints and are covered in dense prickles. This species is native to a broad region of tropical and subtropical Asia, ranging from Pakistan and India east to Japan and New Guinea. In traditional Indian medicine, the whole herb is used to treat dysentery, and its roots are administered to children as a mild sedative. In many regions, Zornia gibbosa is classified as a weed.
