About Zermizinga sinuata (Warren, 1897)

Zermizinga is a moth genus in the family Geometridae, which was first described by Francis Walker in 1863. Two species are currently recognised within this genus: Zermizinga sinuata, commonly called the lucerne looper or spider moth, described by Warren in 1897, and Zermizinga indocilisaria, described by Walker in 1863. Zermizinga sinuata occurs in the Australian states of New South Wales, Victoria, and Tasmania. The larvae of Z. sinuata feed on Fabaceae species, including Lotus cruentus and Medicago sativa. Larvae have also been recorded feeding on Mentha spicata and Pinus radiata. Zermizinga indocilisaria is found in New Zealand, and has been reported to occur in Tasmania, Australia.
