About Zephyranthes candida Herb.
Zephyranthes candida Herb. has deep glossy green leaves that are 3 mm wide. When propagated in the Northern Hemisphere, flower buds develop in late August. Buds initially look like new leaves, but emerge from their papery sheaths to reveal striking pure white blooms. The perianth is held erect, white on the inner surface, and sometimes pinkish on the outer abaxial surface. Its leaf-like bract measures 1.8 to 4 cm long. This species grows best in full sun to partial shade, and requires medium wet soil. It can be propagated by dividing bulbs or offsets, or grown from seed. For cultivation, it is hardy in USDA zones 7 through 10.
