About Zeltnera exaltata (Griseb.) G.Mans.

Zeltnera exaltata (Griseb.) G.Mans. is a flowering plant species belonging to the gentian family. It is commonly known by two common names: desert centaury and tall centaury. This species is native to a large area of western North America, ranging from British Columbia to Arizona to Nebraska, where it grows in moist locations, most often in alkaline soils. It is an annual herb with a variable appearance, particularly across different habitat types. It reaches a maximum height of around 35 centimeters. It has a slender stem that bears widely spaced pairs of oppositely arranged pointed leaves, which measure between 1 and 3 centimeters long. Its inflorescence is an open cluster of flowers, and each individual flower grows from a pedicel that can be several centimeters long. Flowers typically have four or five white or pink lobes, each of which is somewhat rolled, giving it a narrow shape.
