About Zeltnera davyi (Jeps.) G.Mans.
Zeltnera davyi is an annual herb that grows no taller than approximately 25 centimeters. It produces oval leaves that are less than 2 centimeters long. Its inflorescence forms a small, open arrangement of flowers, with some flowers attached to very short pedicels. Each flower typically has five overlapping corolla lobes, each only a few millimeters long, and the corolla is usually pink or partially pink. This plant is almost entirely endemic to California. In California, it can be found along the coastline surrounding the San Francisco Bay Area, in regions north of the bay area, and on Santa Cruz Island, one of the California Channel Islands. It also grows to some degree in Baja California, the northernmost state of Mexico. Its preferred habitats are moist coastal sage scrub on bluffs and dunes, as well as coastal woodlands.
