About Zanthoxylum punctatum Vahl

Zanthoxylum punctatum Vahl, commonly called the St. Thomas prickly-ash, is a plant species belonging to the Rutaceae family. This species occurs naturally in Puerto Rico, the British Virgin Islands, and the United States Virgin Islands. Its native natural habitats are tropical and subtropical dry broadleaf forests, as well as shrublands. Zanthoxylum punctatum is currently threatened by habitat loss, and it is the only endangered plant species on the island of St. John.
