About Zanclognatha protumnusalis Walker, 1859
Zanclognatha protumnusalis, commonly called the conifer zanclognatha, is a species of litter moth belonging to the family Erebidae. This species was first described by Francis Walker in 1859. Its distribution ranges from southern Canada south to Florida and Texas in the United States. The wingspan of adults measures approximately 25 millimetres, or 0.98 inches. Adult moths can be seen in flight between July and September each year. In the northern part of its range, there is only one generation per year. New Jersey sees a partial second generation annually, while areas in the southern part of the range have two or more generations per year.
