Zanclognatha obscuripennis, commonly known as the dark zanclognatha, is a species of litter moth that belongs to the family Erebidae. It was first described by Augustus Radcliffe Grote in 1872. This species is distributed in North America, ranging from Missouri to Quebec, and extending south to Florida and Texas. The wingspan of adult Zanclognatha obscuripennis measures between 22 and 32 millimetres, which is 0.87 to 1.26 inches. Adults of this species are active in flight from April to June. Across most of the species' range, there are two generations per year. In Florida, this species produces continuous broods year-round. The larvae of Zanclognatha obscuripennis feed on detritus, including dead leaves.
