About Zanclognatha jacchusalis Walker, 1859

Zanclognatha jacchusalis, commonly called the wavy-lined zanclognatha, is a litter moth belonging to the family Erebidae. This species was described by Francis Walker in 1859. In the United States, it is distributed from Wisconsin to Maine, and ranges south to Georgia and Louisiana. The wingspan of this moth measures 28 to 31 millimetres, which is 1.1 to 1.2 inches. Adult moths can be seen in flight from April to September each year. Most areas have only one generation per year, while Missouri has two generations annually. It is thought that the larvae feed on detritus, and they have successfully been reared using dead oak leaves.
