About Yucca necopina Shinners

Yucca necopina Shinners is a perennial shrub that grows in small colonies of rosettes. The plant itself reaches 2 feet in height, while its bloom stalks can grow up to 7 feet tall. It produces greenish-white flowers that bloom in the spring. This species resembles both Y. pallida and Y. arkansana; it was once thought to be a hybrid of the two species, but later DNA evidence confirms it is a distinct species. Yucca necopina Shinners is native to Texas, where it grows on river terraces and in deep sand. Its native range is limited to Somervell, Hood, Parker, and Tarrant Counties, located west of Dallas and Fort Worth.
