About Yucca carnerosana (Trel.) McKelvey
Yucca carnerosana, commonly called the giant Spanish dagger, is a species of North American plant belonging to the asparagus family that grows in arid and desert climate regions. In the United States, it is restricted to just a few counties in western Texas, where its endemic populations grow on rocky outcrops. It is widely distributed across northern Mexico, specifically in the states of Coahuila, Durango, Zacatecas, and Nuevo León. This species has a broad range and is abundant; while it faces local threats, its overall population appears to be stable. Giant Spanish dagger is cultivated in a small number of regions, including the western United States, the lower Pacific and Atlantic coasts of the United States, parts of southern Europe, and other locations. Yucca carnerosana is a branched, tree-like yucca that can reach up to 20 feet in height, and produces snowy white flowers.
