About Xyris torta Sm.

Xyris torta Sm., commonly known as slender yelloweyed grass, is a North American flowering plant that belongs to the yellow-eyed-grass family. This species is widespread across the central and eastern United States, ranging from New Hampshire in the northeast to Georgia in the southeast, and extending west to Minnesota, Nebraska, and eastern Texas. It is a perennial herb. Its stem can grow up to 100 cm (40 inches) tall. It bears long, narrow twisted leaves that reach up to 50 cm (20 inches) in length, and are generally less than 5 mm (0.2 inches) wide.
