Xyris elliottii, commonly known as Elliott's yelloweyed grass, is a North American flowering plant species belonging to the yellow-eyed-grass family. Its native range spans the coastal plain of the United States from Mississippi to South Carolina, as well as southern Mexico (specifically Tabasco), Central America (Belize and Nicaragua), and the West Indies (Cuba and Puerto Rico).
This species is a perennial herb that grows up to 25 centimeters (10 inches) tall. It produces grass-like, olive-green leaves that can reach up to 40 centimeters (16 inches) long, and bears yellow flowers. It grows in wet pine flatwoods, lake shores, hardwood hammocks, and cypress domes, and can also be found in disturbed habitats.
