About Xylocopa valga Gerstäcker, 1872
Xylocopa valga is a solitary bee species with a black and blue body that ranges from 20 to 27 mm in length. Its body is densely covered in purple hairs, and its small wings also carry a purple tint. This bee makes cavity nests by gnawing into wood found in the trunks of dead trees and old wooden structures. It lives in both forested habitats and urban areas.
