Xylocopa tabaniformis Smith, 1854, commonly called the horsefly-like carpenter bee or mountain carpenter bee, is a species of carpenter bee belonging to the family Apidae. This species is found across Central America, North America, and South America. Individuals measure 12โ€“18 millimetres (15โ„32โ€“23โ„32 of an inch) in length, and their bodies are black. Male individuals have yellow hair covering their thoraxes.
