Xylena cineritia, commonly called the gray swordgrass moth, is a species of cutworm or dart moth that belongs to the family Noctuidae. This moth is found in northern North America, ranging from New Jersey to Newfoundland, and from California to British Columbia. The caterpillars of Xylena cineritia feed on alder, birch, blueberry, Canadian buffaloberry (Shepherdia canadensis), elder (Sambucus spp.), maple, meadowsweet, oak, poplar, rose, and willow. The MONA, also known as Hodges, number assigned to Xylena cineritia is 9876.
