About Xenoscapa fistulosa (Spreng. ex Klatt) Goldblatt & J.C.Manning
Xenoscapa fistulosa (Spreng. ex Klatt) Goldblatt & J.C.Manning is a plant species in the Iridaceae family. It is one of only three species in the Xenoscapa genus, alongside Xenoscapa grandiflora and Xenoscapa uliginosa. In 2005, this species was classified as least concern. Its ovate leaves grow flat against the ground, while its flowers grow directly upward. The flowers are small and tubular, and the overall stem length typically ranges from 3 to 20 centimeters. Flowers usually have white petals, though they may also be pale pink, and their fragrance is described as spicy-sweet. This species typically grows in clay and granite-based soils, in cool, moist, shaded environments. Its distribution extends from the southern tip of Namibia in the north to the Cape Peninsula in the south, and its populations are clustered near South Africa's Atlantic coast.
