About Xanthosia tasmanica Domin
Xanthosia tasmanica Domin is an erect or ascending perennial herb that usually grows to 20 cm (7.9 in) tall, and has a small number of long spreading hairs on its stems and leaves. Its leaves are trifoliate, with elliptic or wedge-shaped leaflets that measure 4โ15 mm (0.16โ0.59 in) long and 3โ8 mm (0.12โ0.31 in) wide. The leaves grow on a petiole that can reach up to 30 mm (1.2 in) long. The flowers of Xanthosia tasmanica are arranged in a compound umbel, with up to 4 rays that each hold one flower, and sometimes an additional flower between the rays. Up to four linear, leaf-like bracts 3โ4 mm (0.12โ0.16 in) long grow at the base of the flowers, and leaf-like green bracteoles 3โ4 mm (0.12โ0.16 in) long grow at the base of the peduncles. The sepals are green and 2.0โ2.5 mm (0.079โ0.098 in) long, while the petals are white, shorter than the sepals, and around 1.2 mm (0.047 in) long. Flowering occurs through most months of the year, with a peak flowering period in spring. This species of xanthosia grows in coastal heath or forest. Its distribution ranges from the south coast of New South Wales and southern Victoria, to Fleurieu Peninsula and Kangaroo Island in South Australia, to the Esperance Plains, Jarrah Forest, Swan Coastal Plain and Warren bioregions of south-western Western Australia, and also includes Tasmania.
