About Xanthosia rotundifolia DC.
Xanthosia rotundifolia DC. is an erect perennial herb that typically grows up to 60 cm (24 in) tall. Its leaves are leathery, with shapes ranging from round to egg-shaped or wedge-shaped, and have serrated or toothed edges. The flowers are arranged in a compound umbel, which usually has four cross-shaped branches. Each branch is 30โ60 mm (1.2โ2.4 in) wide, with a petal-like bract 15 mm (0.59 in) long at its base. Flowering occurs over a long period, with a peak in spring. This species, commonly called southern cross, grows in gravelly lateritic soils in rocky locations, swamps, and open woodland. It is found in the Esperance Plains, Jarrah Forest, and Warren bioregions of south-western Western Australia.
