About Xanthosia dissecta Hook.fil.
Xanthosia dissecta is a prostrate, tufted herb that usually reaches 10 cm (3.9 in) in height, with heavily branched stems and low-lying branches. Most of its leaves grow at the base of the plant, measuring 5โ20 mm (0.20โ0.79 in) long and 15โ25 mm (0.59โ0.98 in) wide, borne on a petiole that can grow up to 8 mm (0.31 in) long. The leaves are dissected 2 or 3 times, and have linear to egg-shaped lobes 1โ2 mm (0.039โ0.079 in) long. Inflorescences form in leaf axils or at the tips of short branches, and bear up to 3 umbellules with 1 or 2 rays. Each partial umbel is subtended by a linear to narrowly elliptic involucral bract 2โ3 mm (0.079โ0.118 in) long. Both sepals and petals are approximately 1 mm (0.039 in) long, and petals are colored white or reddish. Flowering takes place in spring or summer. This species grows in wet heath and heath woodland located near streams or swamps. Its range extends south from Lawson and Bulli Pass in New South Wales, and also includes southern Victoria and Tasmania.
