About Xanthorrhoea johnsonii A.T.Lee

Xanthorrhoea johnsonii, commonly called Johnson's Grass Tree, is a large species in the genus Xanthorrhoea native to eastern Australia. Its trunk can reach up to 5 metres in height. The older foliage of this plant is extremely strong, which gives it another common name, "steel grass". This strong older foliage is commonly used in floral design, because it can be bent and looped without breaking. The species was named in honor of L.A.S. Johnson, an Australian botanist.
