About Xanthorhoe decoloraria (Esper)

Xanthorhoe decoloraria (Esper) has a wingspan of 19 to 26 mm. Its forewings are pale greyish ochreous, marked with brown striae. The basal patch is fuscous-reddish, with a curved edge. The median band is dull reddish and marked with dark striae; its edges are suffused with dark ochreous-brown, the anterior edge is curved, and the posterior edge is rounded and prominent in the middle. There is a dark ochreous-brown apical streak, and the termen is suffused with grey. The hindwings are pale greyish-ochreous, with grey striae, and the termen is grey. The larva is variable in color, being either dull green or brown, with black dots and pinkish incisions. It also has two conspicuous blotches on segments 6 and 7, with the blotch on segment 7 being larger. Prout has provided an account of the many variations of this species.
