About Xanthopan morganii Walker, 1856

Xanthopan is a monotypic genus of sphinx moth, with its only species being Xanthopan morganii Walker, 1856. This species is often misspelled as "morgani", and is commonly known as Morgan's sphinx moth. It is a very large sphinx moth that is found in Southern Africa, specifically Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, and Madagascar. Currently, little information is available about the biology of this moth. Adult individuals have been observed visiting orchids, and they are one of the main pollinators of several species of endemic Madagascar baobab (Adansonia), including Adansonia perrieri, known as Perrier's baobab.
