About Xanthisma junceum (Greene) D.R.Morgan & R.L.Hartm.
Xanthisma junceum (Greene) D.R.Morgan & R.L.Hartm. is a species of flowering plant in the family Asteraceae. It is commonly known as rush bristleweed or rush-like bristleweed. This species is native to northern Mexico. In the United States, it only occurs as far north as San Diego County, California. It grows in coastal and inland slopes and canyons. It is a perennial herb that grows erect, reaching up to 1 meter in height. Its linear leaves are mostly found at the base of the plant; each leaf is 1 to 2 centimeters long, and is toothed or cut into bristle-tipped lobes. The inflorescence holds one or more flower heads, lined with glandular, bristle-tipped phyllaries. Each flower head has a center made of many yellow disc florets, and a fringe of 15 to 25 yellow ray florets, each about half a centimeter long. The fruit is a hairy achene 2 to 3 millimeters long, tipped with a pappus.
