Wrightia religiosa (Teijsm. & Binn.) Hook.fil. is a tree species belonging to the Apocynaceae family. Its native range covers Guangdong, China, Indochina, Malaysia, and the Philippines. The Catalogue of Life does not list any accepted subspecies for this species. It is commonly grown as a bonsai, and is used in pagodas in Indochina and other regions. In Vietnam, it has several local common names: Mai chiếu thủy, mai chấn thủy, mai trúc thủy, and lòng mức miên. In English, it is often referred to by the common name water jasmine. This species produces small, pendulous white flowers with a fragrance similar to that of true jasmine.
